Snow

SNOW!! SNOW!!!!! It won't be long until there's SNOW!!!
Yep! That's right, here in Kentucky we are expected to get 2-5 inches of snow! We haven't had a good snow in a couple of years, so we are excited about it!! I cannot wait to get out and take pictures in it!! I will post a few if I get any good ones!
Here are two poems I wrote a few years ago about the snow -
Winter’s Here
Snow is falling on the ground,
And piling up in drifts all round.
Frozen cheeks and rivers too,
Mothers make delicious stew.
Laughing children play all day,
They wish the snow would last till May.
Warmth is waiting for them at home,
But outside they would rather roam.
Mother calls them in for lunch,
They come stampeding in a bunch.
“Yum warm food”, they say
“Let’s eat and go back outside to play.”
Darkness falls, so in they come,
Their little toes are very numb.
Jump in bed all warm and snug,
Mother gives a goodnight hug.

Winter’s Spell
The moon shone its celestial light,
Over the snow so pristine white.
From the heavens above the snow fell,
And floated down onto the meandering trail.
Three spectral figures moved through the dark,
Out on a midnight winters lark.
The snow flew all round them on the wind,
Their mournful howling as the winding path they ascend.
And the moonlight all around them fell,
Engulfing everything in winter’s cold spell.
Their silent paws tread the snowy glen,
As off they stalked into their den.

My Home poem

Four years ago I decided to write a poem about the beautiful state I live in!! The poem doesn't give the credit it should to the beauty, but I hope that it helps you to see it somewhat!
My Home
Rugged hills and rolling countryside,
Blue-green grass and tall, strong trees,
Hollows clothed in blankets of flowers and tangles of blackberries,
Rivers, creeks, and streams flowing fast and strong,
Steep rock out croppings and dark, dense woods,
Rabbit burrows, mole labyrinths, and deer paths,
Wild turkeys and bright bluebirds,
The howl of the coyote and the gentle hum of the katydid,
Fireflies on warm summer nights,
Sweet juicy raspberries and sun-ripened tomatoes,
Shaded country lanes and red-orange sunsets,
My picturesque Kentucky home.
